The sunny savanna glowed with warm, golden morning light as the day began.

Little Elfie, a playful baby elephant, loved to chase colorful butterflies with her friends.

She flapped her big, soft ears and wiggled her little, curious trunk in excitement.

Elfie: “Hee hee! Catch me if you can, butterfly!”

Suddenly, a loud, funny "Hiccup!" sound popped right out of her small body.

Elfie: “Hiccup! Oh dear, what was that funny noise?”

Elfie had the hiccups, a bouncy, jouncy, and completely unstoppable problem.

She tried to blow a big bubble with her trunk, but it burst with another noisy "Hiccup!".

Elfie: “Hiccup! Please, go away now!”

Mama Elara, a very wise and gentle elephant, patiently patted Elfie's broad back.

Elara: “Try a very deep, slow breath, sweetie.”

Elfie: “Hiccup! Still here, Mama Elara!”

They walked together towards the tallest acacia tree, a favorite spot where friends often gathered.

Mama thought a tall, friendly neighbor might have a clever, new idea to try.

Up peeked Gerry the Giraffe, with his super long neck and a big, welcoming smile.

Gerry: “What's the big, hiccupy trouble?”

Elfie: “Hiccup! My hiccups just won't leave me!”

Gerry: “Try drinking water completely upside down!”

Elfie bent her head low, slurping water and splashing playful drops everywhere.

Elfie: “Hiccup! So much water splash, Gerry!”

Gerry chuckled, his long, wobbly neck shaking slightly with amusement.

Gerry: “Wiggle your trunk super fast now!”

Elfie wiggled and wobbled her trunk, round and round, as quick as she could.

Elfie: “Hiccup! Still here, Gerry, still here!”

Gerry: “Hold your breath as long as you possibly can!”

Elfie held her breath, her little cheeks puffing out like plump, grey balloons.

Elfie: “Hiccup! Oh no, no good, Gerry!”

Elara: “Mama has a very special and silly idea.”

Elara: “Why did the silly elephant wear stripes to the party?”

Elfie: “Hee hee hee! So silly! Heh!”

Elfie snuggled close to Mama Elara, finally calm, quiet, and very sleepy after her long day.
